Description of Duties:
Peforms simple and complex laboratory test procedures in the Clinical Cytogenetics laboratory. Routine job responsibilities include specimen preparation and set-up, tissue culture and harvesting, slide preparation, microsopic analysis and karyotyping. Additional responsibilities include the performance of quality control, preventative maintenance, inventory management, and quality assurance activities. Participates in the training of other laboratory staff and students rotating through the laboratory. Maintains the laboratory operations in compliance with NYSDOH, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory standards.
Applicants must have a full license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York or a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for full licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York. The preferred candidate will have Cytogenetics experience.
