Description of Duties:
The Clinical Laboratory Technician performs simple and complex laboratory test procedures in the clinical cytology laboratory. Routine job responsibilities will include the preparation, accessioning, processing, routine and specialized staining for routine and specialized cytology evaluation. Additional duties and responsibilities include assisting with needle aspiration biopsy procedures and staining, the performance of quality control, preventative maintenance, inventory management, and quality assurance activities, participating in the training of other laboratory staff and students rotating through the laboratory, and maintaining the laboratory operations in compliance with NYSDOH, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory standards.
Applicants must have a License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or an Associate’s degree in Medical Technology or a related health care discipline and eligibility for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technician in the State of New York.
The preferred candidate will have NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technician, experience in Cytology procedures, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work with a diverse population.
