Description of Duties

The Clinical Informatics Specialist works under the direction of a more senior Clinical Informatics team member and uses their knowledge of provider and ancillary staff workflows, clinical informatics, and information technology to support and disseminate the strategic initiatives and vision for clinical applications and informatics projects as developed by the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO); develops and refines informatics strategies and vision that will allow Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park) to be more competitive by improving clinical outcomes, streamlining and optimizing clinical systems workflows and decreasing operational costs in collaboration with the CMIO; facilitates communication and acts as an advocate and change agent across all levels of the organization to promote the adoption of new processes and technologies.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Doctoral degree in a health, computer science, or informatics related field; or a Master’s degree in a health, computer science, or informatics related field, and the equivalent of one year of full-time healthcare informatics and/or direct patient care experience in a healthcare delivery setting; or a Bachelor’s degree in a health, computer science, or informatics related field, and the equivalent of three years of full-time healthcare informatics and/or direct patient care experience in a healthcare delivery setting; or an Associates degree in a health, computer science, or informatics related field, and the equivalent of five years of full-time healthcare informatics and/or direct patient care experience in a healthcare delivery setting; or a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma with a diploma or certificate in a health, computer science, or informatics related field and the equivalent of seven years of full-time healthcare informatics and/or direct patient care experience in a healthcare delivery setting. The preferred candidate will have EHR knowledge, experience with clinical workflow design or redesign and managing both multi-disciplinary clinical and project teams. The preferred candidate will also be proficient in theuse of Microsoft office Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Visio have possess leadership experience in a healthcare delivery setting.
