The Clinic Liaison provides support to the patients, providers and families of patients who are under the care in clinics, provides timely information to patients and families of patients who are undergoing treatment or medical procedures, helps to streamline communication between clinics, OR providers, PACU, ICU and patients’ families, and services patients at Roswell Park. The Clinic Liaison also ensures that continuous quality care is received by all patients inside and outside of the clinic setting, monitors and assists in the throughput of patients in an ambulatory center, assists in ensuring clinic efficiency by supporting providers during clinic, and assists with the connection of patients from community and clinical referrals for assessment and treatment. They also assist providers and patients in accessing needed resources and services to allow them to move through Roswell Park quickly and efficiently, coordinate with internal services and outreach programs with local and regional health centers, to facilitate timely cancer care and provide encouragement of adequate patient adherence, serve as both an internal and external resource for hospitals, screening facilities, county health units, state health department, patients, physicians, lay public, volunteers, and graduate students for information regarding Roswell Park. The Clinic Liaison also supports clinical activities of multiple departments by scheduling in SCI & OR cases, tracking consents, preop, and H&P to assure surgical readiness, following-up with patients to assure completion of tests/procedures & securing those results, providing support to patient flow coordination of PDT amongst departments, and communicating with patients/families/providers as to appointments/status. They assist with coordination of prior authorizations, obtain records from outside facilities and maintain open communication with physicians, nursing staff, researchers, engineers and patients. The Clinic Liaison provides education on PDT therapy to clinical support staff and patient/family as needed to help support and further expand the cytoreduction/HIPEC program under Dr. John Kane.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a health related field and the equivalent of one year of full-time experience in community, patient or customer-oriented support; or an Associate’s degree in a health related field and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience in community, patient or customer-oriented support; or a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of five years of full-time experience in community, patient or customer-oriented support. The preferred candidate will have a Degree in a health related field, more than one year of experience scheduling OR cases, more than one year experience in scheduling SCI clinic visits, more than one year experience in patient education, and will have experience in directly communicating with Roswell Park patients in a clinical setting. They will also have experience in thoracic/Pulmonary/Head and Neck/GYN/GI/Dermatology, experience with a Clinical Research Department, and experience with patient databases. They will be comfortable communicating/interacting/assisting patients and their families, as well as the clinical providers who treat them, will have excellent communication skills, will be independently and internally motivated, and will have exceptional customer service skills.
