Description of Duties:
The Assistant Laser Engineering Specialist supports the mission of the Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) Center and all Clinical Departments, as needed. The Assistant Laser Engineering Specialist assists Laser Engineering Specialist with providing various types of services on laser systems used for therapy and/or diagnosis purposes, assists with the operations of lasers and providing light power treatments as prescribed by a physician for patients receiving PDT, and maintains parts inventories and performs some laser equipment maintenance. They also assist staff/students in research experiment designs related to lasers and optical systems/equipment under the direction of Laser Engineering Specialist.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field; or an Associate’s degree in an appropriate field and the equivalent of two years of full-time experience training in a laser laboratory setting. The preferred candidate will have experience with experimental design and use of laser systems, a background and/or course work in Biomedical Imaging, Physics and/or Bio-Chemistry, and experience with technical writing, data analysis and statistical analysis. They will also have knowledge in Matlab® and computer-aided design (CAD) software.
