Description of Duties

Responsible for designing and implementing information technology solutions (including hardware and software) in support Roswell Park’s research mission; consults with department heads and end-users to further IT research infrastructure development; works on advanced, complex technical research projects requiring state of the art technical and industry knowledge; collaborates with ADCC and NIH/NCI IT/informatics groups to gain knowledge and apply to Roswell’s research efforts; Identifies key technologies at the organization that could reduce redundancy, improve/enable research activities/outcomes.

Qualifications

The applicant must have a Master’s degree in computer science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience with development of multi-server software applications, web services, and advanced server or database administration; or a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of five years of full-time experience with development of multi-server software applications, web services, and advanced server or database administration. The preferred candidate will have experience with common development languages – Java, JavaScript, PHP, CSS, Python, Ruby, C , JSON, R, XML, HTML. The preferred candidate will have experience standing up and administering common web technology stack frameworks (including cloud hosted); familiarity with MySQL, MSSQL and Oracle database development. The preferred candidate will also have experience providing custom software development support for research across a wide variety of disciplines and experience developing software for processing and analyzing bioinformatics datasets.
