The Student Intern answers HIV/STD/HCV Hotline, HIV Counseling Hotline and Prison HIV Hotline telephone calls, counsels callers on aspects of HIV/STDs/Hep C and provides referrals for HIV and STD related services. In addition, Hotline Counselors assist inmates with transitional planning for their time of release. Other duties of the Student Intern include completing call record forms for each call and preparing mailings.
Applicants must have matriculation in a degree program in communications, medical sciences, medical research or a related field. The preferred candidate will have at least one year to go to graduation, experience operating a multi-line telephone, knowledge of HIV/STDs, counseling experience, and bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish).
