Description of Duties:
The Software Systems & Implementation Manager develops, implements and maintains software solutions and processes to support the mission and goals of the Clinical Trial Development Division (CTDD) and supervises the programming team. The Software Systems & Implementation Manager is responsible for research related software systems and implementation, creates and adopts standards to support and efficient software development lifecycle, including software management, source control and industry recognized programming practices, and designs, develops and maintains software to specifications. They also estimate project scope and effort, while providing progress reports to the management team, work to ensure new software systems utilized are properly incorporated into existing processes or additional processes are developed, and remain aware and knowledgable of current and emerging FDA or other regulations that could impact internal processes.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a similarly related field and the equivalent of five years of full-time software development experience in a clinical trials setting including two years’ experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of eight years of full-time software development experience in a clinical trials setting including two years’ experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity. The preferred candidate will have advanced software development practices utilizing modern frameworks and architectures, in-depth knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) practices, and in-depth knowledge of SDLC processes. They will also have experience in Medidata Rave Electronic Data Capture System and knowledge of SQL and source control management best practices. They will have the ability to communicate professionally, concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to work within cross-discipline teams to meet established project goals and deadlines.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
