Description of Duties:
Monitors and helps to maintain the company’s network/server systems; interacts with Engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to troubleshoot network/server systems when necessary; assists in supporting mid-level to advanced technical problems; assists in project planning and executes on complex and high-level project tasks; provides training to Network Technician I and IIs when necessary and is familiar with a variety of network/server concepts, practices and procedures.
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of two years of full-time IT experience or Associate’s degree and the equivalent of two years of full-time network technician experience at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center or an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of four years of full-time IT experience or a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of six years of full-time IT experience. The preferred candidate will have experience with ethernet cabling standards, have the ability to troubleshoot cat 6 cabling infrastructure and have working understanding of routing and switching. The preferred candidate will have experience with cisco phone and video endpoint (conference room) systems, have ability to troubleshoot campus LAN networks, has experience in troubleshooting device to network connectivity issues and has a basic understanding of wireless networks. The preferred candidate works successfully and high pressure stressful situations, has a high quality communication and customer service skills. The preferred candidate will be self-taught and willing to learning new things quickly and efficiently. The preferred candidate will possess the ability to problem solve without supervision when needed, works with in team environment and accepts constructive feedback from peers and has the ability to work overtime and nonstandard business hours for upgrades and unplanned system outages, when needed.
