Description of Duties:
The Senior Health Information Management Coordinator performs more complex medical record audit functions requiring higher-level decision making and analysis. The Senior Health Information Management Coordinator assists with Health Information Management (HIM) applications testing, assists with implementation of new or upgraded HIM systems, assists HIM Management Team with auditing new clinical documentation initiatives for the organization, and performs audits to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the medical record. They also assist with monitoring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, HIPAA requirements and Roswell Park policies related to documentation processing and document retention as well as New York State regulations related to (HIM), assist with major initiatives involving the HIM Department, and assist in implementation of record retention policy.
The applicant must have an Associate’s degree in an Health Information Management (HIM) program and certification as an Registered Health Information Technician(RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); or an Associate’s degree in a health-related field and the equivalent of one year of full-time RPCI Health Information Management experience with knowledge of medical terminology; or an Associate’s degree in a health-related field and the equivalent of three years of full-time Health Information experience with knowledge of medical terminology; or an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of four years of full-time Health Information experience with knowledge of medical terminology. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of five years of full-time Roswell Park Clinical/Administrative health care experience; or High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of 6 years of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience. The preferred candidate will have an Associate's Degree in a Health Information Management program, experience auditing medical records for completeness and accuracy, and knowledge of the Joint Commission Record of Care Standards. They will also have experience giving feedback to clinicians and experience with Microsoft Office Suite. They will also have the ability to work well on a team, engaging in open and meaningful communication, will display a positive attitude to the team, your leadership and your customers, and will have the ability to collaborate on projects and tasks.
