Description of Duties:
The Senior Corporate Coding Specialist performs all coding functions related to corporate billing. The Senior Corporate Coding Specialist abstracts data directly from the medical record and interprets data into national coding standards, makes sure coding of diagnoses is performed in accordance with ICD-10 coding guidelines, and coding of procedures is performed in accordance to ICD-10 procedure guidelines for hospital reimbursement.
Applicants must have an Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)/Administrator and the equivalent of four years of full-time coding experience; or a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma, certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and the equivalent of four years of full-time coding experience. The preferred candidate will have experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, and knowledge of compliance standards and third party carrier policies. They will also have experience with superbill generation and automation of data interfaces.
