Scientific Program Assistant
The Scientific Program Assistant works with the Mind Maps PI, Clinical Fellows and Engineers to collect data in the operating room, clinic or inpatient floors, organize all data in Excel or REDCap, assist with the initial data analysis, manage the research database, and write manuscripts and abstracts for publication. This individual is also involved in the initial stages of new research projects and may be meeting with key stakeholders and biostatisticians to create a research method, then draft a protocol to be approved. The Scientific Program Assistant is expected to be involved with grant writing for all projects in which they are involved, poster creation, and presentation of work at national conferences. They are working closely with EHR, REDCap, various analyzing software, new technologies for various research projects, Outlook, Excel, OR Scheduler, and clinic schedules.
Applicants must have an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of one year of full-time secretarial experience in a scientific research, academic or related setting assisting in the preparation of grant proposals; or a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of two years of full-time secretarial experience in a scientific research, academic or related setting assisting in the preparation of grant proposals. The preferred candidate will have a bachelor's degree or higher in a pre-med field such as biology or the sciences and at least one year research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment. They will also have knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet programs necessary to organize data for analysis by the supervisor. They will have At least six months experience working with patients in a clinical setting, will work well in a team setting, have strong time management skills, enjoy learning new things and working in an organic creative environment, and will have experience with electronic medial records.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
