Description of Duties:
The Scientific Department Administrator is responsible and accountable for the planning, directing and provision of all administrative and regulatory issues related to the Department of Health Behavior. The incumbent will work closely with the Department Chair to identify and implement programmatic priorities. To achieve these goals the incumbent will work on the following: regulatory and compliance issues, preferably those that meet the standards of NIH and other government contracts and grants; provide administrative oversight and managerial support of all operational and fiscal requirements of the program; manage all personnel and HR related issues including visa processing, coordination of fiscal affairs including budgets, resource allocation, staffing space and facilities management. Processes grant and contract matters; handles day to day operational needs/requests of the department faculty and staff; act and monitor staff performance evaluations and represents the department and participates in various center and departmental meetings. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession, prepare grant submissions, reports and/or other business plans based on strategic objectives of the department.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience in business, scientific or academic administration including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of five years of full-time experience in business, scientific or academic administration including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity.
The preferred candidate will have a strong background in grant and contract administration, budget management and experience in developing and executing strategic plans. The preferred candidate will also have the ability to manage a diverse array of human resources issues that present to the department. Must be familiar with current grant management platforms including Roswell’s internal systems (CDD.Net, Dashboard, NIH Commons, ASSIST, etc.)
