Public Safety Services Coordinator
The Public Safety Services Coordinator answers emergency /non-emergency phone calls and coordinates the response of Public Safety to such emergent/non-emergent incidents. The Public Safety Services Coordinator uses various means of communication including telephone, computer, radio, written, verbal to provide related details to officers and other emergency personnel, such as fire, police, and paramedics, in response to calls as needed. They also provide assistance to Public Safety Staff members by answering inquiries and questions relating to Public Safety Operations and other Campus related matters, document incoming calls and ensures initial incident information is accurately recorded, and enter applicable information into the law enforcement software database. They monitor and respond to a variety of panels, systems, and alarms, solicit information to interpret, analyze, and anticipate various situations as to resolve problems, provide information, dispatch Public Safety Staff, and/or contact outside agencies for assistance and response. The Public Safety Service Coordinator acts as an Ambassador, providing exceptional service in a variety of assignments.
The applicant must have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of two years of relevant experience as an operator, dispatcher, or in a customer service role. The preferred candidate will have an Associate's Degree or higher, above average computer skills, and extensive experience as a Telephone Operator, Dispatcher, Telemarketer, Teacher, or related position involving significant use of a telephone and/or computer. They will also have above average verbal and writing skills, will have a positive attitude and demeanor, will strive to make a difference and will have the ability to work calmly in complex and/or emergent situations.
