Description of Duties:
The Principal Secretary successfully performs all of the duties of the Operating Room Scheduler, correctly schedules patients for both surgery and endoscopy, reviews the schedule daily to ensure appropriateness of case order and flow, effectively communicates and coordinates with all Perioperative Departments as needed, and keeps patient materials organized. The Principal Secretary also actively participates in Team Dynamic activities and service enhancement initiatives that result in improved patients care, abides by the attendance and tardiness policy, abides by the E-Time policy, follows and maintains procedures for standard precautions, contact and respiratory isolation and other infection control measures, and understands HIPAA regulations. They also adhere to standard and expectations of RPCI Employee conduct Policy, attends/completes mandatory in-services on an annual basis, participates in staff meetings, and attends educational and new product in-services, and performs all other duties assigned.
Applicants must have an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of two years of full-time secretarial experience in a clinical setting requiring the use of medical terminology; or a High School Diploma or G.E.D and the equivalent of three years of full-time secretarial experience in a clinical setting requiring the use of medical terminology. The preferred candidate will have surgical/endoscopy scheduling experience, experience in a perioperative setting, and have strong medical terminology knowledge. They will have also have excellent written and verbal skills and customer service skills.
