Description of Duties:
The Payroll Associate provides assistance and backup for payroll processing for the alternate process level., enters, analyzes, audits and makes corrections to e-Time and Lawson systems, analyzes Lawson payroll data and makes necessary changes, sorts paychecks and separates those to be picked up, mailed or held, and disburses early release checks. The Payroll Associate also distributes checks/direct deposit stubs to departmental timekeepers, monitors and follows up on checks/stubs not picked up within two weeks, performs data entry for direct deposit, tax withholdings, employee purchases, etc., reviews time accrual reports and makes adjustments as needed, and assists in maintaining the Payroll Support inbox. They also provide backup support to other team members, assist in completing special projects as needed, prepare other written documentation as required by the profession and departments and maintain, distribute, analyze and project information for required records, reports and statistics as directed. The Payroll Associate also provides salary information, including vacation and sick time, when requested from NYS retirement, provides payroll information as requested for worker's compensation and disability, and performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Applicants must have an Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting or a related field and the equivalent of one year of full-time experience in payroll processing, general accounting/bookkeeping and/or accounts payable/accounts receivable; or a High School diploma or G.E.D. and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience in payroll processing, general accounting/bookkeeping and/or accounts payable/accounts receivable.
