Description of Duties:
This is a trainee position. Incumbents will be engaged in trainee duties that may lead to the full performance level of a Patient Access Representative. The Patient Access Representative Trainee conducts patient scheduling, insurance verification, and obtain authorizations. They also request patient medical records, imaging reports and pathology slides, triage new patient appointment requests to appropriate disease site, and facilitate appointments with patients, PC practices and affiliates. The Patient Access Representative Trainee obtains medical records, imaging and pathology slides for provider review, coordinates with providers to schedule patients, utilizes various systems to perform insurance eligibility, creates medical record numbers, and utilizes the Central Access System for tracking patients to ensure records are received and appointments are scheduled.
Applicants must have a High School diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma. The preferred candidate will have an Associate's Degree and one year experience scheduling patients, performing insurance verification and knowledge of in network and out of network payer rules as well as coordination of benefits. If the candidate does not have at least an Associate's Degree, they will have at least three years of experience with all of the above requirements. They will also have excellent customer service and communication skills, experience with medical terminology, and the ability to utilize computers and utilize various programs.
