Description of Duties:
This is a trainee position. Incumbents will be engaged in trainee duties that may lead to the full performance level of a Patient Access Representative. The Patient Access Representative Trainee obtains prior authorizations for diagnostic radiology and therapy services. They will have telephone contact with insurance companies, clinicians and patients. The Patient Access Representative Trainee will use various programs to verify insurance eligibility and to enter authorization information into patient management systems and will utilize phones and fax machines to obtain authorizations. They will also obtain referrals for services and work with insurance companies to obtain retro authorizations if needed.
Applicants must have a High School diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma. The preferred candidate will have an Associate's Degree and at least one year of experience obtaining authorizations through insurance companies. They will also have experience with verifying insurance eligibility, experience with medical terminology, and the ability to utilize computers and various programs efficiently.
