Description of Duties:
This is a trainee position. Incumbents will be engaged in trainee duties that may lead to the full performance level of a Patient Access Representative. The Patient Access Representative Trainee answers telephones, schedules new patient appointments for pediatric patients, reviews records, triages calls, and requests medical information from community medical facilities. The Patient Access Representative Trainee also enters new patient information into the database accurately and assigns medical record numbers, verifies insurances, requests referrals/authorizations, pre-registers and registers patients, and updates patient demographic information. They also coordinate care between Roswell Park and Oshei Children's Hospital and assist in all areas that need assistance for the operational needs of the institute by the Coordinator, Supervisor and Senior Director of the Department.
Applicants must have a High School diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma. The preferred candidate will have pediatric physician office experience, including answering telephones, registration and scheduling experience. They will have the ability to work independently with excellent computer database input experience, patient demographic registration in outpatient and/or hospital setting experience with insurance verification and referral request experience, and strong organization and multitasking in a fast paced office environment. They also will be flexible to change, will have an excellent time and attendance record, and excellent customer service experience.
