Description of Duties:
The Patient Access Representative Trainee performs a variety of duties in the registration/admissions area. Duties of the Patient Access Representative Trainee include registering new and existing patients, updating demographic and insurance information in appropriate databases to secure patient care and ensure reimbursement is safe and accurate, and creating encounters which are the appropriate level of care for patients as needed based on pre-admit notifications and other services needed. They also process hand carried diagnostic imaging, pathology, and direct patients to appropriate locations. They will be responsible for working evenings at times independently and communicate effectively with nursing supervisors, hospitalists and the switchboard. The Patient Access Representative Trainee will offer outstanding customer service and assist with supervisor and Senior Director of Patient Access as they identify needs.
Applicant must have a High School diploma or G.E.D. The preferred candidate will have an Associate's Degree and at least one year experience obtaining authorizations through insurance companies. They will also have MD Office or hospital registration experience, experience with verifying insurance eligibility, will have the ability to utilize computers efficiently, and will utilize various programs.
