Description of Duties:
The Patient Access Representative Trainee is responsible for obtaining prior authorization for diagnostic radiology and therapy services. They will have telephone contact with insurance companies, clinicians, and patients. The Patient Access Representative Trainee will be required to use various programs to verify insurance eligibility and to obtain the authorizations; phone, fax and computer work will be required. The employee will also be responsible to work denials and appeals with insurance companies and work any out of network and retro authorization that may become needed for coverage. The Patient Access Representative Trainees also may perform other duties as requested by the Supervisor or Senior Director of the Department. This is a trainee position. Incumbents will be engaged in trainee duties that may lead to the full performance level of a Patient Access Representative.
Applicants must have a High School diploma or G.E.D. The preferred candidate will have an Associates Degree and one year experience with insurance authorizations and verification work or a High School diploma or G.E.D. and three years experience working with insurance authorizations and eligibility. The preferred candidate will also have medical terminology experience with excellent time and attendance.
