The Pastoral Care Provider functions within the interfaith Pastoral Care program and provides clinical pastoral services to organization inpatients, outpatients, and their families. The Pastoral Care Provider assesses the need and desire for spiritual care to patients and their families and coordinates the provision of services with medical care and the element of care as provided by the Supportive Care department, conducts and participates in religious, liturgical and para-liturgical services in the organization’s Interfaith Chapel, and serves as a resource for organization staff. They also participate in weekly visitation to inpatients, clinic patients and patients at the Amherst Site and participate in scheduled on call emergency coverage, holiday coverage (Memorial Day/Labor Day/ 4th of July/Columbus day/Martin Luther King day, etc. and all days deemed as clinical operational days. The Pastoral Care provider is also responsible for appropriate charting in the EHR and participation in departmental programs such as the Patient Remembrance Services and staff trainings and meetings.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Theological Studies or equivalent and is working toward certification and the equivalent of one year of full-time pastoral care experience in a healthcare setting. The preferred candidate will be a Board Certified Chaplain or will have a minimum of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Care Education (CPE) and working towards certification. They will also have a Masters Degree in Ministry, Theology or approved course of study, experience in Palliative and End of Life Care, and will be endorsed by his/her faith or denomination leader. They will be computer literate, open to variable hours, and open to working holidays.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
