Description of Duties

Provides a full range of technical services including system configuration, implementation and security for the network and server realm; analyzes system traffic and provides capacity planning information and assists with solutions; monitors and responds to technical hardware and software problems and manages the daily operations activities for the respective systems; provides project planning and executes of small projects within the realm of the position.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Master’s degree and the equivalent of two years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of two years of full-time experience as a Network Technician at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of four of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or an Associates degree and the equivalent of six years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization; or a High School diploma or High School equivalency and the equivalent of eight years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization. The preferred candidate will have extensive experience in the complete VMWare/VCenter infrastructure including: server provisioning, ESXi patching and updates, PowerCLI, SRM, RDM and VVols configuration and VSan. Additionally, they should be experienced in HP/Dell server debugging and maintenance, software and firmware upgrades, iLO, OneView, iDrac, etc. The candidate should also be experienced in storage administration and debugging with the following platforms: 3PAR, NexSan, NetApp, StoreOnce as well as fiber channel switch administration. Finally, Linux system administration experience and debugging skills are required. Experience with various scripting languages is a plus including: powershell, bash and python. Excellent communication skills are required. The preferred candidate will also have excellent communication skills, strong problem solving skills and the ability to critically think.
