Description of Duties:
The Network Systems Specialist I manages, designs, and implements policies of Information Technology's client-server/network architecture. The employee takes responsibility for maintaining and expanding the various applications within a Windows Server environment. Windows Server support including patching, installation and migration. Ensures the stable operation of the in-house computer network and all connected PCs and penpherals, including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. Analyzes and resolves end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end user training where required.
The candidate should possess a Master’s degree and the equivalent of two years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the Institute; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of two years of full-time experience as a Network Technician at Roswell Park Cancer Institute; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of four of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the Institute. The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, MIS or CIS and have analytical skills necessary to resolve complex technical problems related to the Institutes' Information Technology environment. The preferred candidate will also have experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server environments to include knowledge of current supported Windows Server Versions, Active Directory, Group Policy, Symantec Antivirus (SEP), PowerShell, Varonis, Tripwire, and Cloud Technology. The candidate will have strong interpersonal and oral communication skills; proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail; and strong customer service orientation and experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
