Description of Duties

Ensures accurate and timely completion of insurance company requests for patient records; extracts patient medical records for insurance company requests; extracts patient medical records for Roswell Park's Patient Accounting Department; records all disclosures of patient records into HealthSource record tracking software; preps and scans paper medical records for inclusion in the electronic health record; performs quality review of scanned medical records; processes death certificates; processes imported medical record documents; Performs research for enterprise Doctor Master and referring physician databases; performs all the duties of a Medical Records Associate I.

Qualifications

The applicant must have an Associates degree in an Health Information Management program and the equivalent of six months of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience; or Successful completion of an accredited medical office assistant education program and the equivalent of one year of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience; or High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of eighteen (18) months of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience; or a High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of one year of full-time Roswell Park clinical/administrative health care experience. The preferred candidate will have 1 year of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience and document processing experience. The preferred candidate will have prior work experience in a Medical Records Department and electronic medical record experience. The preferred candidate will also have 1 year of release of information experience.
