Description of Duties:
The Medical Records Associate II performs quality review of scanned documents using Allscripts Sunrise Record Manager’s QC module. The Medical Records Associate II ensures documents are filed to the correct patient, episode and document type and performs electronic document imports on a routine basis using Allscripts Sunshine Record Manager’s scanning module. They are also responsible for prepping, scanning and quality review of medical records from outside facilities, assisting with HIM special projects, and they may perform all the duties of a Medical Records Associate I.
Applicants must have an Associates degree in an Health Information Management program and the equivalent of six months of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience; or Successful completion of an accredited medical office assistant education program and the equivalent of one year of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience; or a High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of eighteen months of full-time clinical or administrative health care experience; or a High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of one year of full-time Roswell Park clinical/administrative health care experience. The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a Health Information Department or somewhere related, will have experience with medical terminology, will have experience with handling electronic record transfers, and will have an understanding of folder structure when importing electronic files. They will also have an understanding of personal computers and Microsoft Office, including Excel, experience with prepping and scanning paper records to the electronic medical record, and experience with quality review to ensure records get assigned accurately to the correct record and/or episode level.
