Description of Duties:
The Health Information Management Coordinator assists in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the medical record; assists with assuring timeliness and accuracy in the various Health Information Department sections; assists with monitoring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, HIPAA requirements and RPCI policies related to documentation processing and document retention as well as New York State regulations related to Health Information Management (HIM); assists with requirements for regulatory surveys; assists with major initiatives involving the HIM Department; assists in implementation of record retention policy.
Applicants must have an Associate’s degree in a health-related field and the equivalent of one year of full-time RPCI Health Information experience with knowledge of medical terminology or an Associate’s degree in a health-related field and the equivalent of two years of full-time Health Information experience with knowledge of medical terminology or an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of three years of full-time Health Information experience with knowledge of medical terminology.
The preferred candidate will have an Associate's degree in Health Information Management, previous Audit experience, previous experience performing Quality Control in EMR and working knowledge of Allscripts, Sunrise and EHR.
