Description of Duties

The Executive Director of Ambulatory Oncology Services is responsible for making strategic decisions within his or her functional area that will have an impact on the department and/or the Institute; exercises authority for managing operations within his or her functional area; serves as the primary subject matter expert in developing policies and procedures for his or her functional area; responsible for day-to-day operations of areas under his or her supervision; collaborates with other senior leaders to ensure that the department goals are in-line with the Institute goals and mission; performs the following duties, either personally or through subordinate managers.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Doctoral degree and the equivalent of two years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or a Master’s degree and the equivalent of four years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of six years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or any combination of education/experience/training that demonstrates the ability of the individual to perform executive-level duties and fulfill the responsibilities of the Executive Director. However, all candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and have the equivalent of at least eighteen months’ experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; stated in 1, 2, or 3 above. Also, recognized licensure, if required, to perform the functions of the position. The preferred candidate will possess a Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration with eight to ten years of ambulatory cancer program experience (including Infusion Center experience) in a hospital based academic institution. The preferred candidate will have experience with process improvement - Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt as well as demonstrated ability to problem solve and implement business and clinical improvements. The preferred candidate will have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, as well as planning and organizational skills. The preferred candidate will be strategic and forward thinking and possess a strong ability to collaborate and foster teamwork.
