Description of Duties

The Executive Director is responsible for making strategic decisions within his or her functional area that will have an impact on the department and/or the Institute; exercises authority for managing operations within his or her functional area; serves as the primary subject matter expert in developing policies and procedures for his or her functional area; responsible for day-to-day operations of areas under his or her supervision; collaborates with other senior leaders to ensure that the department goals are in-line with the Institute goals and mission; performs the following duties, either personally or through subordinate managers.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Doctoral degree and the equivalent of two years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or a Master’s degree and the equivalent of four years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of six years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or Any combination of education/experience/training that demonstrates the ability of the individual to perform executive-level duties and fulfill the responsibilities of the Executive Director. However, all candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and have the equivalent of at least eighteen months’ experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; stated in 1, 2, or 3 above. The preferred candidate will have a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Management or a related field Equivalent of ten years of full-time healthcare management experience with progressive responsibility at a senior level including five years of financial management experience, five years of perioperative clinical operations experience and one year of experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity. The preferred candidate will possess the ability to analyze the organization’s competitive position by considering the market and industry trends, existing and potential customers (internal and/or external), and strengths and weaknesses as compared to other organizations. The preferred candidate takes responsibility for one’s own or one’s employees’ performance by setting clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, ensuring feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly. The preferred candidate will possess the ability and desire to work cooperatively with others on a team; as a team leader, interest, skill, and success in getting groups to work together cooperatively. The preferred candidate will possess the ability to develop and communicate goals in support of the organization’s mission. The preferred candidate will be a forward thinker by anticipating the implications and consequences of situations and taking appropriate action to be prepared for possible contingencies. The preferred candidate will be analytic thinker by approaching a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach.
