Description of Duties:
The Environmental Services Worker cleans and decontaminates all horizontal and vertical surfaces within patient care, post-patient care, public, staffing and other designated areas, maintains and promotes sterile integrity of designated patient-occupied areas, prepares each patient care room for the next occupant as rooms become available, and performs tasks as necessary to expedite the removal, packaging and /or subsequent recycling of refuse and/or debris from designated departments within the institute while adhering to medical waste-management regulations. The Environmental Services Worker also observes and participates in the operation of various equipment and/or machines, assists, coordinates and performs tasks involved with floor care and moving services, dusts and/or washes high places such as ceilings, removes snow, cleans sidewalks, lawns and driveways as required, and maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, appropriate medical waste management protocols, and compliance standards.
Applicants must have a High School diploma or G.E.D. The preferred candidate will have previous training or experience in a hospital setting, experience in environmental services or housekeeping, and experience in the perioperative setting.
