Description of Duties:
The Clinical Center Associate schedules Operating Room procedures in the surgical scheduling system in a timely and accurate manner by utilizing information provided by the surgical specialities. The Clinical Center Associate appropriately utilizes block schedules, procedure types, physician privileges and other information when scheduling cases and communicates schedule changes and conflicts to surgeons, anesthesia, OR staff and other hospital personnel as needed. The Clinical Center Associate performs a variety of data entry tasks including entering patient information into the scheduling system and medical record, entering staff schedules, and special needs for procedures. The Clinical Center Associate initiates the billing process for patients, performs time keeping tasks for staff payroll, orders office supplies, and arranges maintenance of office equipment. The Clinical Center Associate also schedules meetings, takes meeting minutes, types/compiles memos and policies, answers telephones, files records, handles mail, performs coping and faxing and other administrative duties as assigned.
Applicants must possess a Medical Office Assistant Associate’s degree; or an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of one year of full-time secretarial experience in a clinical setting requiring the use of medical terminology; or a High School diploma or G.E.D., completion of an RPCI-approved Medical Assistant certificate program and the equivalent of one year of full-time secretarial experience in a clinical setting requiring the use of medical terminology; or a High School diploma or G.E.D. and the equivalent of two years of full-time secretarial experience in a clinical setting requiring the use of medical terminology.
The preferred candidate will have previous experience as an Operating Room Scheduler, be proficient in MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. The preferred candidate will also have excellent customer service, organization, and time management skills as this position will work in a busy environment with minimal supervision and interact with a variety of diverse customers.
