The Chief Pharmacy Officer is responsible for making strategic decisions within his or her functional area that will have an impact on the department and/or the Institute. The Chief Pharmacy Officer exercises authority for managing operations within his or her functional area, serves as the primary subject matter expert in developing policies and procedures for his or her functional area, and is responsible for day-to-day operations of areas under his or her supervision. They also collaborate with other senior leaders to ensure that the department goals are in-line with the Institute goals and mission and perform additional required duties, either personally or through subordinate managers.
Applicants must have Recognized licensure, if required, to perform the functions of the position. They must also have a Doctoral degree and the equivalent of two years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or a Master’s degree and the equivalent of four years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of six years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen (months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or Any combination of education/experience/training that demonstrates the ability of the individual to perform executive-level duties and fulfill the responsibilities of the Executive Director. However, all candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and have the equivalent of at least eighteen months’ experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; stated in 1, 2, or 3 above. The preferred candidate will have license to practice as a registered pharmacist in the State of New York, will have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and four years of full-time experience including eighteen months in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity, and will have experience managing projects and programs related to oncology pharmacy services with demonstrated positive results on patient outcomes. They will also have knowledge of payer, regulatory, compliance and licensure issues at the federal and state level, proven fiscal management skills, and demonstrated ability to problem solve and implement clinical and business improvements. They will have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, strong planning and organizational skills, and strong orientation and commitment to external and internal customer service. They will be strategic and forward thinking and have a strong ability to collaborate and foster teamwork.
