Description of Duties:
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administration of the day-to-day operations in the Benefits section of the Human Resources Department. The Benefits Specialist is accountable for data entry and the creating and maintenance of benefit information to HRIS system for Roswell Park and the State. The Benefits Specialist also investigates benefits questions and concerns, and reviews benefits plans with new and existing employees. The Benefits Specialist performs duties and responsibilities in a confidential environment requiring minimal supervision.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of one year of full-time experience in Human Resources or related business experience; or an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience in Human Resources or related business experience.
The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or a related field, will have three years of human resources, payroll, and/or business experience, and will have experience working with employee benefit plans, disability benefits, workers' compensation, and leaves of absence, including FMLA. They will also have prior experience managing complex accrual and benefit programs, previous experience using Lawson and PeopleSoft systems, and strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. They will have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
This is a grant-funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables is required.
