Description of Duties:
The Associate General Counsel Assists the General Counsel in handling variety of legal matters at Roswell Park. The Associate General Counsel takes assignment of specific legal tasks from Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel, and Deputy General Counsel, and either reports back to him/her or directly to the department, manager or executive involved in the matter. They also prepare, review, and negotiate a wide array of Roswell Park contracts, analyzes and assists with structuring of proposed health care transactions in compliance with applicable regulations, provides guidance with respect to regulatory compliance generally, and assists in handling other legal issues as directed. The Associate General Counsel assumes primary responsibility for legal tasks, with obligation for timely and regular reporting and consultation with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, and serves as primary for reimbursement legal issues, reimbursement compliance and regulatory aspects of business transactions.
Applicants must have a J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admitted to practice law by the State of New York Bar and
Three years of full-time responsible private practice or in-house legal experience dealing with health care provider legal issues that include primary emphasis on regulatory contract and general corporate matters, business transactions and contracts, and exposure to regulatory compliance. The preferred candidate will have hospital experience and experience with reimbursement compliance is helpful. They also will have experience with business transactions and expertise with Stark and AntiKickBack is preferred.
