Description of Duties

The Associate Dean assumes responsibility for the overall operations and quality of the Roswell Park Graduate Division (RPGD), affiliated with the University at Buffalo (UB); acts as the Chief Academic Officer’s primary deputy in managing all educational activities of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; oversees the PhD and Master’s degree and certificate programs; drives the pursuit of quality in all aspects of the student learning experience; ensures compliance of students, faculty, and programs with internal and UB academic regulations and processes; serves as a liaison with UB on graduate education matters; plans, implements, and assesses marketing and recruiting efforts and coordinates with and assists Chairs, Directors of Graduate Studies, and faculty in each academic program on admissions, curriculum, new program development, grantsmanship and faculty/mentor development; plans and delivers co-curricular programming on career development; assesses and reports on program effectiveness.


The applicant must have Doctoral or MD degree in the biomedical sciences and the equivalent of two years of full-time post-doctoral training. The preferred candidate will have experience in training and mentoring predoctoral students in the biomedical sciences through to successful completion of degree requirements; experience as a course coordinator or primary instructor for one or more graduate-level biomedical courses; experience as a research in a cancer field; and experience administering a graduate academic program or specialty track.
