The Administrative Associate performs highly-confidential, complex administrative duties & operational management for Department of Surgical Oncology and it's divisions (Breast, GI, STM). Provides administrative support to Department Chair and Vice Chair, including calendar management, drafting business correspondence, expense reimbursements, financial reports, meeting arrangement & minutes, etc. Supervises administrative support staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training; monitors & documents performance, completes annual evaluations; conducts investigations of complaints & concerns; manages progressive discipline in tandem with Sr. Department Administrator and HR. Supports Sr. Department Administrator with oversight of department and organizational level tasks, including attending meetings on administrator's behalf.
Applicants must have an Associate’s degree and the equivalent of five years of full-time secretarial or related experience; or a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of six years of full-time secretarial or related experience. The preferred candidate will have a Master's Degree and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. They will also have two years of direct or delegated supervisory experience with additional preference given to that experience within a unionized environment and five years of experience in a clinical/academic/scientific administrative office. they will have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and will be comfortable with multi-tasking and/or changing priorities.
