Future Treatments (Research)

Goal: Early detection

Often spinal tumors are not discovered in the early stages. That’s because they occur deep inside the body, out of reach of simple, noninvasive tests or monitoring techniques, and they cause few symptoms until they are more advanced. Roswell Park researchers are studying ways of detecting spinal tumors sooner in patients who have already received a cancer diagnosis, so the tumors can be treated before they threaten life and neurologic function.

Goal: Shutting down neuropathic pain

Our researchers are working to develop a targeted treatment to relieve neuropathic pain, a type of pain commonly experienced by cancer patients.
