Liver Cancer

If you or a loved one is facing a diagnosis of liver cancer, or you seek a second opinion, the oncology experts at Roswell Park are here for you. Our liver cancer team believes every patient is unique, and we approach cancer treatment on an individual and personal basis, treating the whole person, not just the cancer.

Our experts serve on boards of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) to create guidelines that specify the best ways of preventing, detecting, and treating specific types of cancer. The NCCN guidelines for hepatobiliary cancer are the most widely used standards for cancer care.

Roswell Park is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and is a Blue Distinction Center for Complex and Rare Cancers — such as primary liver cancer — by the BlueCross BlueShield Association. Only 90 cancer facilities in the nation have received this distinction for complex and rare cancers.

Because liver cancers require highly specialized expertise for diagnosis and treatment, we’ve created a care center dedicated to patients with these complex malignancies. The center brings together surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists plus other specialists to treat both primary and metastatic liver disease.

Our Endoscopy Center brings together Advanced Endoscopy and Interventional Pulmonology services into one facility where more than 90 percent of procedures are performed on an outpatient basis.

Pioneering Clinical Trials

Roswell Park strives to find better ways to treat liver cancer through clinical trials, many of which have been pioneered and launched by our own translational research team.
