If you or a loved one has a suspicion or diagnosis of cancer, we are here to help you during this difficult time. You have made the right decision to turn to the cancer experts at Roswell Park. We treat all types of cancer, from the common to the rare.

We will answer your questions and help you through every step of the process, from seeking a second opinion on your diagnosis to explaining treatments to arranging a consult with one of our experts who specializes in your type of cancer.

If you’re facing a cancer diagnosis, we want you to know that we share your concerns about taking action quickly. We’ll guide you through the first steps you need to take to schedule a consultation and plan your treatment.

Step 1

To begin, schedule a consultation with our team. Start by filling out the Become a Patient Form or by calling us at 1-800-ROSWELL (1-800-767-9355).

Step 2

  • If you request an appointment online, an associate will call you within one business day.
  • On the phone, we will gather some basic details and request the records that document your diagnosis. During this call, we gather your name, address, phone number, date of birth, Social Security number and insurance information. We’ll also ask for contact information for your referring physician and any other medical providers. We may ask you for further details about referrals or authorizations.
  • We will ask you to send all medical records associated with your diagnosis before your consultation. We’ll need to review these records, including results of CT, PET, or bone scans, MRIs and other tests, and pathology reports before your consultation.
  • We will also request relevant pathology slides and CDs of imaging from your referring physician or medical provider on your behalf. We may need to have you sign a release of information in order for some facilities or physicians to release records to us. We’ll explain how you can arrange to have these materials sent to us.

Step 3

Kim Sweeney, RN, MBA, Vice President of Patient Care Experience, lets you know what you expect before your first visit to Roswell Park.

Set up an appointment for your consultation. It is suggested that you bring a family member or friend with you when we meet, so consider that when scheduling. Ordinarily, your consultation will take place about seven days after your first conversation with our Patient Access Team.

Step 4

After we set up your appointment, we’ll mail you a packet containing a confirmation of the date and time of your appointment, and useful information about Roswell Park. If there is not enough time for this information to be received by mail, you will receive it on the day of your consultation.
