The Telemetry Technician performs tasks relating to cardiac/electrocardiogram (EKG) monitoring including the observation of an initial assessment of telemetry EKG data and identify any changes in the subject's baseline cardiac rhythm and rate or any alarms and promptly notify responsible party; collaborates with appropriate staff members for rhythm interpretation; identifies life threatening arrhythmias or out of range interval values and take immediate action by alerting appropriate staff members and if necessary, activate EMS.
Applicants will possess a current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers and an Associates degree in cardiovascular technology or an equivalent telemetry-related program; or a High School diploma or G.E.D. and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience as an EMT Intermediate, Paramedic or in an equivalent role requiring the monitoring of EKG/arrhythmias.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as following acceptable educational practices.
The preferred candidate will have completed a basic EKG interpretation course and completion of a one (1) year certification program.
