Description of Duties: 

6 East (IMCU) is being developed to provide care for a higher acuity of patients including cardiac monitoring, administration of vasoactive medications, respiratory management and eventually ventilator therapy. The Nurse II candidate must be able to assume the care of patients in this medical/surgical setting and is responsible for managing/coordinating patient care and unit based activities. The Nurse II will also supervise all nursing personnel on assigned shifts and units, make patient care assignments based on job descriptions and individual staff capabilities, assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, and implement the performance appraisal process of subordinates on assigned shifts. The Nurse II must demonstrate the ability to work with staff members in the identification and resolution of problems related to the management and function of all nursing areas, demonstrate knowledge of Institute and departmental organization, utilize appropriate channels of verbal and non-verbal communication skills, participate in in-service and staff development programs, and demonstrate professional conduct in the work environment.

Qualifications: 

License Requirement
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.

Education and Experience
1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or
2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time critical care experience; or
3. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months (full-time); or
4. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.

The preferred candidate will have critical care/telemetry experience.
