The Physician Assistant will focus on inpatient management for Surgical Oncology services (GI, Breast, STM) and will assist with robotic GI procedures in the OR. In addition, the Physician Assistant will perform a variety of duties in the evaluation, treatment planning and treatment of in-patients and out-patients, participate in providing postoperative care and follow-up; perform other medical/surgical services on patient divisions as may be requested.
Minimum qualifications:
License and Certification Requirements
1. License to practice as a Registered Physician Assistant in the State of New York; and
2. Certification as a Registered Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) or other national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Department.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies; or
2. Bachelor’s degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program recognized by the New York State Education Department.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as following acceptable educational practices.
The preferred candidate will have 2 years of full-time Physician Assistant experience in an oncology setting, preferably in Surgery. Familiarity in Surgical Oncology (GI, Breast and STM) and experience with robotic OR procedures is also preferred.
