Provide technical support to the Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) Center for its interactions with the Surgical and Dermatology Departments for the use of laser systems in the treatment and diagnosis of cancerous tumors. The laser specialist will work in the clinic and operating room (OR) in addition to scientific laboratories. He/she will be responsible for operating lasers and conducting calibration of lasers and fibers for the delivery of prescribed light output for PDT of tumors in research and clinical settings. In addition, the specialist will be responsible for monitoring the laser system during therapy, and if needed, trouble-shoot technical issues.
1. Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time relevant experience; or
2. Associate’s degree in an appropriate field and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time relevant experience.
The preferred candidate will have a degree in Engineering and/or related field; experience in using clinical lasers and performing routine calibration of optical systems; knowledge in laser safety; ability to work in clinical setting while interacting with OR staff, nurses, physicians and research scientists; capacity to trouble-shoot technical issues that may arise during PDT; good communication skills and has basic knowledge in optics and the use of optical devices.
