Position responsibilities include both clinical and classroom orientation, monitoring of RN orientee performance, continuing staff education activities, participation in research and quality improvement initiatives.
License Requirement
License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
Education and Experience
1. Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, or a related healthcare field and the equivalent of three (3) years of nursing experience which includes education/preceptor experience or previous teaching experience; or
2. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Education or a related health care field and the equivalent of five (5) years of nursing experience which includes education/preceptor experience or previous teaching experience.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as following acceptable educational practices.
The preferred candidate will have experience with development of Nursing Education programs and mentoring of inexperienced staff as well as appropriate/related certification. Necessary computer skills to customize programs for use with orintees and existing employees. Must be able to work with various audiovisual equipment to facilitate orientation and training. Demonstrated ability to work with preceptors to improve/revise existing curriculum and make recommendations for changes to facilitate RN Orientation.
