Paint, listen to soothing music, play computer games, or cuddle up with a book under one of our cozy afghans. The CCRC offers games, brain teasers, puzzles, videos, and generous helpings TLC! First-time visitors to the CCRC receive a free gift pack which includes a pen and journal, deck of cards, audiotape of positive affirmations, and a postcard.
Look Good, Feel better
Look Good…Feel Better program is a free program developed by the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association Foundation in cooperation with American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association. It focuses on techniques that can help people undergoing cancer treatment improve their appearance.
LGFB offers skin, hair and nail care tips, make-up techniques, and wig, scarf, hat and turban demonstrations. Participants receive a take-home instructional booklet and cosmetics donated by the CTFA Foundation. For help finding a Look Good... Losing hair from your head, face, or body can be hard to accept. Feeling angry or depressed is common and perfectly all right. At the same time, keep in mind that this is a temporary side effect. Talking about your feelings can help, and planning ahead can help lessen the stress of dealing with your hair loss.
Our wig, scarf & hat boutique, located inside Roswell Park, provides free, brand new wigs for those who are undergoing cancer therapy, and you need not be a patient at Roswell Park to receive this service. Get a wig or hairpiece before you lose a lot of hair. That way, you can match your current hair style and color. Or, perhaps you’re the adventurous type who’d prefer to adopt a totally new look—it’s up to you!
Some people who lose all or most of their hair choose to wear turbans, scarves, caps, wigs, or hair pieces. Others leave their head uncovered. Still others switch back and forth, depending on whether they are in public or at home with friends and family members. do whatever feels comfortable for you.
