Biography:

Dr. Fabiano is a native of Buffalo, NY. He attended the University of Illinois at Chicago on scholarship and after only five semesters graduated with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and Chemistry with College Honors and Highest Departmental Distinction. He then matriculated to the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences where he earned an M.D. and graduated with Thesis Honors. During medical school Dr. Fabiano was supported by an Alpha Omega Alpha Research Fellowship and evaluated the effect of multiple sclerosis on the grey matter in the brain. He helped develop methods for evaluating the multiple sclerosis disease process using magnetization transfer and diffusion-weighted MR imaging sequences.

Next, Dr. Fabiano completed a neurosurgical training program with the SUNY at Buffalo Department of Neurosurgery. His research efforts during this time focused on advances in minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques, and were supported by a Thomas F. Frawley Research Fellowship. He won a general interest award for his presentation at the 2008 American Association of Neurological Surgeons annual meeting entitled, “Vascular presentations in the stoma with endoscopic third ventriculostomy.”

Dr. Fabiano accepted a faculty position with the Department of Neurosurgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute after completing his residency training. He has completed additional neurosurgical training courses on Gamma Knife Radiosurgery and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery. He continues to focus on the effective diagnosis and treatment of central nervous system disorders.
