Your medicine will be is given as a shot just under your skin (subcutaneous) or delivered directly into a vein (intravenous or IV).

What is it Used For?

This drug is used to treat severe some symptoms that occur with certain intestinal tumors.

How Does Octreotide Work?

Octreotide is a synthetic version of a hormone that occurs naturally in the body (somastatin). This hormone naturally decreases a number of gastrointestinal hormones (gastrin, secretin, motilin) and proteins (vasoactive intestinal peptide) but the synthetic version is used because its effects last longer.
