Milk of Magnesia is used on a short-term basis to treat constipation.
What Should I Tell My Doctor Before I Begin Taking It?
Tell your doctor:
- if you are allergic to magnesium hydroxide or any other drugs
- what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, including vitamins
- if you have or have ever had kidney disease
When To Call Your Doctor
Although side effects from Milk of Magnesia® are not common, they can occur. If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor:
- stomach cramps
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- diarrhea
