Head and Neck Oncology

Cancers of the face and neck can be debilitating to patients, affecting many important body functions such as chewing, swallowing, sight, smell, speech, taste and breathing. The Head and Neck Cancer Service at Roswell Park Cancer Institute employs a team approach with specialists in surgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology, radiology, pathology and rehabilitation medicine to formulate a personalized treatment plan for each patient. Our team combines surgery, radiation and chemotherapy to preserve vital functions such as speech and swallowing, and to improve survival.

We are part of the Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB) and Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and offer state-of-the-art clinical trials, with the aim of beating the odds against these cancers. For patients who have exhausted standard treatments, the service offers access to new experimental cancer drugs through the Phase I program at Roswell Park.
