Roswell Park Brings Annual Volunteer Recognition Event to Creekside Banquet Facility Tuesday

WHAT: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park) to host 56th Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon

WHEN: 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012

WHERE: Creekside Banquet Facility, 2669 Union Road, Cheektowaga, NY 14227            

NOTES: In 2011, 704 volunteers contributed 84,726 hours of service to Roswell Park. Volunteers are found throughout the Institute, greeting patients and visitors at the front door, attending the information desk, offering snacks and beverages in waiting rooms or the hospitality room and offering their “helping hands” wherever needed.   

The event will include an awards ceremony in which more than 100 volunteers will be recognized for donating their time and talents, including those who have reached milestones from 100 hours to 30 years of service. Volunteers from ages 15 to 91, along with 28 retired Roswell Park scientific researchers, will be recognized.

The mission of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is to understand, prevent and cure cancer. Roswell Park, founded in 1898, was one of the first cancer centers in the country to be named a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and remains the only facility with this designation in Upstate New York.
